Jounieh is a city that mostly developed during the Lebanese war, when a part of the Beirut population came to settle in this region that was considered safe.

This demographic movement allowed the development of Jounieh, but also took away some of the charm of this city that was known for its superb red tile villas and its orange tree gardens. Today, we can still come across some of these old villas totally surrounded by concrete.

The beauty of Jounieh lies hidden in its old souks where the charming old roads lead to traditional Lebanese houses aligned on the seaside.

On the main road, the fishermen storerooms have been rehabilitated and transformed into luxurious designers boutiques thus giving the city a beautiful contrast that links the past to the present and gives the old town a sophisticated but still antique look.
